Ichthus Fort Wayne Music Festival

Ichthus Fort Wayne is a one-day music, media, and ministry experience that includes four stages (that run simultaneously), more than 40 artists, five speakers, a Parent’s Tent, and ministry exhibitors. It includes a diversity of musical genres…there’s truly something for everyone.

The artist lineup includes: Switchfoot, Red, Relient K, Family Force 5, Thousand Foot Krutch, BarlowGirl, The Afters, Sanctus Real, DecembeRadio, The Almost, Disciple, KJ-52, Flame, Phil Keaggy, Chasen, and many others. Come for the day or spend the night. Free camping is available and there’s a free pre-festival concert on Friday night, September 24.

Ichthus festivals are known for their great music. But they’re about more than music. They’re about community, celebration, challenge, and wholehearted commitment to Jesus. To that end, Ichthus festivals include high-impact speakers and a convergence of ministries and experiences that will challenge and encourage you to more fully love God and live your life for His purpose.

Dear Heartlanders,

The hot summer of 2010 will soon be history. Our children are back in school. Our family routines are being rearranged again. And so too are our church activities.

Beginning this Sunday we are back in the large auditorium. Thanks for your flexibility. We are anticipating our usual wonderful worship team, sharing communion, ministering to one another and this Sunday on how our gathered worship provides a foundation and a launching pad for the life we want to live together before God. We are called to be a people of godly impact. We can do more together than we can do alone. Just think for example of all the people who are not hungry because our Food Pantry provided sustenance.

We will be hosting the Heartland of North American Network of Churches of the Anglican Mission in Amercia as they meet in our building, Sept. 17 and 18. Details can be found on our website. AMiA is a convergent mission under the Archbishop of Rwanda, bringing evangelical, charismatic, and sacramental streams together. I hope many of you will come to the Friday evening worship celebration if not all of the meetings for the two days. There will be outstanding teaching, vision casting, and fellowship with those whose hearts are to evangelize the lost and plant new churches throughout the Midwest. Andy Piercy will be leading worship. Andy was the worship leader at Holy Trinity Brompton in London for many years. The Alpha evangelism program came out of that large Anglican church under the leadership of Nicky Gumbel and Bishop Sandy Miller. They were good friends in the early days of the Vineyard’s ministry in the UK. Also, Thad Barnum, author of Never Silent will be one of the speakers. He leads a ministry today called Called2Disciple. It is an incredible tool. Also, Bishop Doc Loomis will be inspiring us all. We also need families to host some who will be coming for a couple of nights lodging. Will you host someone? Kim Rockett and her wonderful crew are gearing up children’s ministry. We could use some help once a month or more often from a few more folks in this foundational ministry.

Carolyn Allen is strategizing about new classes for the fall. If you have ideas please let her know. We would love to have a couple of classes during the week at the church both in the daytime and in the evening.

The Youth have some new plans they are working on too. All in all we are in pretty good shape as we face into the fall.

Thanks for the 50 families who underwrite our ministries and missions. Things are very tight. Just like at your house. But when we each do our part, then indeed we can do together what we cannot do alone. God is speaking to us of a new breakthrough season now. The intercessors particularly are hearing the Lord say new beginnings. I take that by faith, that as together we obey, God will inspire, support, and bless our work together.

Three important notes:

1. Chuck Murphy has been called to Rwanda for the Archepiscopal elections so he will not be joining us in Fort Wayne….He is, of course, very disappointed…but is going to send us $100,000 instead…(kidding)

2. The Friday night worship service is open to all without registration fees. I hope our unregistered, local Indiana folks will be able to travel in.
