Worship Schedule

Heartland has a vibrant community of lead worshipers whose job it is to facilitate the experience of corporate worship for all of our services, using music, dance, art, liturgy, drama, poetry, etc. We try to create immersive, interactive worship environments where we provide abundant opportunities for everyone to participate in worship. It’s not a stage-show; it’s a corporate activity everyone engages in.

We look for creatively gifted people who have a “John-the-Baptist” attitude (wanting to shine the spotlight on Jesus, not themselves). Once or twice a year we have a party and auditions for new people to connect with the worship community. If you’d like to use your gifts in worship, contact Carolyn to find out what the possibilities are.

Our Values for Gathered Worship:

GOD-CENTERED:
The main theme of our corporate worship is God: his character, his ways, his activities in history. Other themes are present, but they revolve around the character and nature of God.

REVELATORY:
We seek to unveil the majesty and beauty of God in fresh, surprising ways. Majesty-broadcasters, you could call us. We want people to see deeper into God’s heart when they worship.

AUTHENTIC:
Rather than putting on a show to impress other people, we want our worship to flow out of the love we actually have for God. We try to “keep it real” in worship, expressing lament and frustration as well as celebration and joy.

HOME-GROWN:
We highly value worship expression that had its genesis in our community, whether in song or dance, painting or poetry. Even as we keep ourselves centered on God, our worship is conditioned and shaped by our experiences together as a community, and worship that expresses the heart of our community is highly valued.

HOLISTIC:
We try to create worship experiences that involve all physical senses, and engage intellect and emotion.

RHYTHMIC:
We try to create worship experiences that are connected to the rhythms and themes of the Church Year, because we believe this to be a powerful formational exercise for the Body of Christ to engage in.
